Job DescriptionJob Description Position: Cost Accountant Location: Etobicoke, ON (Hybrid flexibility after onboarding) Industry: Food Manufacturing & Distribution Salary: $75-$85K – Hybrid Opportunity Our client, a well-established food manufacturing and distribution company, is seeking a motivated Cost Accountant to join their Finance team. Reporting to the Director of FP&A , this is an excellent opportunity for an early-career finance professional who is eager to develop their expertise in costing, pricing, and manufacturing finance. The role offers the chance to help rebuild and modernize the company's costing processes while working alongside an experienced analytics leader who is committed to mentoring and professional development. This position is highly collaborative and requires someone who enjoys working closely with production and operations. While hybrid flexibility is available, regular on-site engagement and a willingness to leave your desk to solve problems on the production floor are essential. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and continuously improve standard costing models, including labour rates, material costs, production overheads, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Calculate standard production costs using labour standards, material usage, production yields, and inventory data. Review and update costing assumptions to ensure accurate product costing and pricing. Prepare weekly and monthly variance analysis, identifying cost drivers and recommending corrective actions. Support budgeting, forecasting, inventory analysis, and operational reporting. Partner with production, operations, and supply chain teams to improve costing accuracy and business performance. Assist in redesigning and enhancing costing processes, reporting, and internal controls. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 1-3 years of experience in costing, manufacturing accounting, FP&A, or financial analysis. Manufacturing or food manufacturing experience is considered a strong asset. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) is preferred. Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret large data sets. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
