Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Finance Manager Job Description This role supports a broad general accounting and financial reporting function across multiple divisions, with a strong focus on month-end, quarter-end, and consolidated reporting activities for Canadian and US entities. The position sits within the controllership structure and emphasizes hands-on execution, review, and consistency across divisions rather than formal people management. The Finance Manager works closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and aligned financial reporting, with a primary focus on general accounting and operational reporting rather than technical compliance. Responsibilities Lead and execute monthly and quarterly close activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal timelines. Review journal entries and support overall close accuracy across multiple divisions and entities. Support quarter-end and group-level reporting processes for multiple business units in both Canada and the United States. Oversee and validate revenue recognition practices to ensure alignment with internal policies and guidelines. Coordinate divisional review processes to drive consistency, completeness, and timeliness of financial results. Partner with stakeholders across multiple divisions to align on reporting outputs and address issues proactively. Contribute to financial reporting deliverables with a strong emphasis on general accounting and operational reporting rather than technical accounting compliance. Maintain and enhance internal controls within the financial reporting process environment. Perform financial statement review activities, including analysis and validation of results. Provide oversight, guidance, and support to junior resources or co-op students as needed, without formal direct-report responsibilities. Collaborate closely with finance leaders in both Canada and the United States to support consolidated reporting and best practices. Support budgeting, financial reporting, and audit-related activities as required. Essential Skills Strong general accounting experience with a focus on operational accounting and controllership activities. Proven experience managing month-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries. Experience supporting quarter-end close and group-level reporting across multiple business units. Hands-on experience with revenue recognition and the ability to apply internal policies consistently. Demonstrated ability to review and analyze financial statements for accuracy and completeness. Experience maintaining and enhancing internal controls within a financial reporting environment. Experience in financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, and financial statement preparation and review. Experience supporting or working with audit processes. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to coordinate across multiple divisions and stakeholders. Ability to work independently in a hands-on role with a strong focus on execution and accuracy. Professional accounting designation (such as CPA) or equivalent professional-level accounting experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working within a controllership structure in a large or public organization. Exposure to both Canadian and US finance environments and reporting requirements. Experience in a role focused on reporting and operational accounting rather than SOX compliance ownership. Ability to provide guidance and informal mentorship to junior team members or co-op students. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to consistency and standardization across divisions. Effective communication skills to partner with finance leaders and stakeholders in different locations. Comfort working in a hybrid work model with both in-office and remote responsibilities. Work Environment This position operates in a hybrid work model, with two days per week in the office and the remaining days worked remotely. The standard schedule is a 40-hour work week, typically from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with overtime possible during peak periods such as month-end and quarter-end. The role is based in an office environment in Cambridge, Ontario, and involves collaboration with finance leaders and teams across both Canadian and US operations. The dress code is business casual, reflecting a professional yet approachable workplace culture.
