We are seeking a
Corporate Accountant
with
French Language skills
to join our team, based in Edmonton, AB.
Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, this role will work with multiple internal teams within the corporate accounting group performing accounting activities while ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal finance policies, accounting standards, and regulations. The position requires intermediate analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial principles.
Please note: All accounting tasks and documentation will be performed in English; however French is required specifically to communicate and correspond directly with our Quebec-based colleagues as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Interact remotely with our Quebec entities, which will be mostly in French
Prepare and post journal entries
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for Valard entities and follow up on outstanding bank transactions
Review and reconcile intercompany transactions for both the balance sheets and income statements
Collaborate with other departments to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data
Perform month-end and year-end close recurring tasks as directed
Assist with audit preparations and provide documentation as needed
Communicate and correspond with French-speaking stakeholders, and translate or review financial documentation in French as required
Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management
Requirements
Post-Secondary Education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
2 years of accounting experience, preferably in Corporate Accounting
Strong technical acumen with software platforms such as the MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
Fluent in speaking, writing, and reading French (required); strong written and verbal English also required
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
CPA designation, or working towards
Previous experience with the Construction Industry
