Controller
Progressive Auto Group is a growing automotive organization committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences across our dealerships throughout Southwestern Ontario. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Controller to support dealership accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with OEM and company standards.
The Controller works closely with the accounting team and dealership leaders to oversee daily accounting functions, support business decision-making, and maintain the financial integrity of the dealership. This role is ideal for an accounting professional looking to continue developing their career within a supportive and growing automotive group.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
Maintain and oversee dealership accounting activities and the general ledger
Support timely month-end and year-end close processes
Prepare and review monthly OEM financial statements and internal reporting
Complete monthly bank reconciliations and financial analysis
Ensure accounting processes and controls are followed accurately
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
Oversee AP and AR functions, reconciliations, and reporting
Ensure accurate processing of invoices, payments, and customer transactions
Monitor receivables, vendor accounts, and cash flow activities
Support collections and account resolution activities as required
Banking & Cash Management
Manage EFTs, wire payments, and dealership banking activities
Reconcile banking transactions and oversee cash controls
Coordinate lien payouts and OEM-related financial transactions
Operational Support
Work collaboratively with dealership leaders to support operational performance
Ensure timely and accurate posting of dealership transactions
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Assist with process improvements and day-to-day accounting support
Provide guidance and support to accounting team members as needed
Qualifications
Accounting diploma or degree preferred
2–5 years of accounting experience preferred; automotive dealership experience considered an asset
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Experience with dealership management systems considered an advantage
High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Motivated to learn and grow within the organization
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation Range: $60,000–$90,000 annually (based on experience)
