JOB OPPORTUNITY Position Information Location New Westminster Campus Salary Range Hourly: $52.41-$114.65 per hour; per Three Credit Course: $7,947. Actual salary or hourly rate will be based on the number of credits and term of appointment according to the Collective Agreement. WHAT IT TAKES The Music Department in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts is seeking to expand its list of instructors qualified to teach Live Sound in the Music Technology Diploma and Advanced Certificate in Applied Audio programs. The successful candidate will be qualified to teach the following courses: • MUSC 1175: Music Technology for Live Bands • MUSC 2173: Live Sound and Recording I • MUSC 2273: Live Sound and Recording II • MUSC 3273: Advanced Live Sound Applications The successful candidates will • plan, organize, and manage learning activities and maintain quality learner-centred instruction; • assess and evaluate students' progress and achievement; • maintain currency in the field through professional development activity. To be successful in this role, you will need: • a Bachelor's Degree in Music, Music Technology, Sound Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience; • experience with a variety of current digital live sound consoles; • a minimum of 5 years experience with front of house and live engineering in performance venues or festivals; • experience developing a venue-specific live sound reinforcement system; • a thorough understanding of health and safety requirement as they relate to lie event technology; • Dante certification and some experience with ETC lighting would be an asset; • a demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population of learners; • excellent communication skills, demonstrated initiative and creativity, effective interpersonal skills, and self-directedness; • evidence of ongoing professional development; • a record of successful teaching at the post-secondary level would be an asset. Additional Information Workload is assigned each year based on available sections. We anticipate offering MUSC 1175 in the Fall 2026 semester.
