Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: 55,000-60,000 Community Engagement Coordinator 12 Month Contract - Full Time Fixed Term (35 hours per week) The Families Matter Society of Calgary strives to promote optimal child development and family resilience by helping caregivers learn about early childhood development, by providing concrete supports in times of need; by helping families build strong relationships, and by creating lasting, supportive social networks among families. We are looking for a passionate and committed professional to join our organization as a Community Engagement Coordinator. JOB PURPOSE: The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing Families Matters Strategic Plan by building meaningful relationships, increasing community presence, and driving engagement that supports both program growth and fund development. This role is responsible for designing and implementing strategies that: Strengthen community connections Elevate Families Matters brand and visibility Deepen relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders Support diversified revenue growth The Community Engagement Coordinator acts as a bridge between community impact and resource development, ensuring that engagement efforts translate into sustained support for Families Matters mission. Qualifications & Experience Education & Experience Post-secondary education in communications, community development, social work, marketing, or a related field 35 years of experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, or nonprofit development role Experience working within the nonprofit or social services sector is an asset Key Accountabilities Community Engagement & Relationship Building Develop and execute a comprehensive community engagement strategy aligned with organizational priorities Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and networks Identify and cultivate opportunities for collaboration, co-creation, and community-led initiatives Represent Families Matter at community events, tables, and sector gatherings Governance & Board Administration Support Coordinate scheduling and logistics for Board meetings Support onboarding of new Board members Prepare and distribute Board materials and meeting packages Maintain Board documentation and ensure compliance with governance requirements Track and follow up on Board-related action items Fund Development Support Support the implementation of the fund development strategy through community-based donor engagement Identify and cultivate prospective donors, sponsors, and partners through relationship-building Collaborate with leadership to support donor stewardship and engagement opportunities Contribute to campaigns, events, and donor experiences that deepen connection to impact Partnerships & Strategic Alliances Develop and steward partnerships that expand Families Matters reach and program footprint Align partnership opportunities with strategic priorities (early years, mental health, fathering) Track and evaluate partnership effectiveness, including return on investment and community impact Brand Awareness & Storytelling Increase awareness of Families Matter through community presence and strategic outreach Collaborate with internal teams to amplify program impact stories and community voices Support campaigns that highlight Families Matters role in building resilient families and communities Events & Community Activation Plan and support community-facing events that enhance engagement, visibility, and donor connection Ensure events align with strategic goals Leverage events to strengthen relationships and expand networks Accounting & Financial Tracking Prepare deposits, track donations, and maintain financial documentation for community initiatives and fundraising activities. Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all financial and donor-related records. Monitor program and event-related expenses to ensure alignment with budgets.
