At Plan Group, we work on landmark projects that push the boundaries of what's possible. We are seeking an experienced Communications Technician to join our project team at the BHP Jansen site. This role is ideal for a skilled technician who thrives in an industrial construction environment and is comfortable working on a remote rotational schedule. You will support the installation, testing, and maintenance of communications infrastructure critical to site operations.
Key Responsibilities
Structured cabling installation including Cat6/Cat6A, fiber optic termination, testing, and certification
Network equipment installation: switches, wireless access points, cabinets, racks
Industrial communications systems setup and troubleshooting
Perform site surveys, documentation, and as-built updates
Adhere to all safety protocols and contribute to a strong safety culture
Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades
Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years experience as a Communications/Low-Voltage Technician
Experience in industrial or large-scale construction environments
Valid SCOT, CSTS, or equivalent safety certifications
Valid Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, and Confined Space (asset)
Ability to work a 14/7 rotational schedule at a remote site
Strong understanding of fiber optics, copper cabling, and network hardware
Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills
