The Role
We’re GeoComply – a leading geolocation and cybersecurity company. The Legal Counsel will manage a variety of legal projects, serve as a trusted business partner across commercial and operational functions, and provide strategic support for our global growth.
Key Responsibilities
Review, draft, interpret, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including NDAs, customer, license, consulting, leasing, vendor, and data processing agreements.
Collaborate with the broader Legal team to develop and implement a comprehensive legal strategy across commercial functions and subsidiaries.
Strategize with internal stakeholders on global expansion matters, ensuring new business opportunities are pursued in a legally compliant manner.
Advising on privacy and data protection initiatives, including compliance, risk identification, mitigation, internal governance, and contractual matters.
Support the company and its global subsidiaries on employment, intellectual property, legal process, equity plan management, and related matters.
Conduct research on emerging legal areas, best practices in tech transactions, assess risks, and advise key stakeholders.
Manage relationships with strategic commercial counterparties, professional advisors, and government authorities.
Develop and maintain legal templates, precedents, playbooks, databases, guidelines, and other resources.
Perform additional duties as assigned consistent with the position.
Who You Are
Law degree from a highly-ranked university and full qualification to practice in an in-house environment in North America.
3–8years of experience as a lawyer in a top-tier firm or in-house department, preferably in a high-growth tech company.
Track record of advising global, North‑American headquartered businesses on cross-border legal functions.
Skill in reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating commercial contracts for products, services, and technology.
Demonstrated knowledge in privacy, data protection, and related areas of law.
Comfortable working with outside resources, contractors, and legal counsel.
Impeccable attention to detail, well-organized, proactive, and solution oriented.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with clear communication of complex legal issues.
Sound business judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to evaluate alternatives quickly.
Team player who thrives in a dynamic, transaction-focused, rapidly evolving environment with multiple projects and tight deadlines.
Salary Range
$116,000–$159,500CAD annually (base pay varies with qualifications, experience, and other factors).
