Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA) is a recognized, industry-led, not-for-profit organization that operates regulated recycling programs across Canada. We provide environmental compliance programs for manufacturers, distributors and retailers of electronics and represent the largest network of qualified processors and drop-off locations in Canada. Our mandate is to ensure end-of-life electronics are handled in a safe, secure and environmentally-sound manner.
We currently have a co-op opportunity in our Operations department that will bebased out of our Mississauga head office located at 5750 Explorer Drive. This is a STUDENT placement for a minimum of 4 months starting September 2026.
Role Overview:
The Co-op Studentwill be responsible for expanding a network of service providers and collectors (accounts) across the province of Ontario. These service providers assist with the collection of end-of-life electronics from end users so unwanted electronics can be properly diverted and recycled into materials used in the circular economy.
This role involves managing existing strategic partnerships as well as locating and sourcing new accounts for the recycling process. The main goal of this position is to assist the association in meeting or exceeding its annual targets for recovered electronic products in the most cost-efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
Establish thorough knowledge of the electronics recycling industry to be able to confidently sell its features and benefits
Build and maintain effective business relationships with current service providers
Monitor day to day operations of the service provider network against regulatory requirements through periodic site visits to rural/remote areas of the province
Identify and prospect new potential service provider opportunities by developing sales leads and cold calling in underserviced areas
Effectively answer program questions, offer suggestions and overcome objections of potential prospects
Quote pricing and negotiate terms of service agreements with providers
Collect recyclable material for processing from EPRA and partner sites as required
Set up and maintenance of client accounts, process transactions and performance reporting
Participate in promotional activities/events that increase brand awareness
Collaborate with internal departments to investigate, address and resolve customer issues
Stay up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
Travel within the province of Ontario is approximately 25%
Be available as needed to resolve issues
Ideal Candidate:
MUST have valid Ontario Drivers licence, insurance and own personal vehicle
Enrolled in a post-secondary degree/diploma ideally in Business, Political Science, Environmental Studies or a related discipline
Dynamic and outgoing personality
Understanding of or interest in learning about Ontarios Circular Economy and the recycling industry
1 - 3 years of experience selling to and supporting end users, working with municipalities is a plus
Solid MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Access)
Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Self-motivated and results driven with a can-do attitude
Natural at relationship building and consultative sales
Analytical problem solver and critical thinker
English/French bilingual is a definite asset
