The Role
GrizzlyTrek is seeking one CNC Operator to join our valued client's team in Alberta. Reporting to the Machining Supervisor, this is a full-time position responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a CNC machine, along with customer service, quality, and operational performance within the division.
Working alongside the Machining Supervisor to ensure optimal shop execution, the CNC Operator brings the skill set needed to run the equipment required for machining services and to help drive quality and efficiency on the shop floor.
What You'll Do
Operate a CNC lathe to cut API and Premium connections
Change and set up cutting tools, inserts, and specialized equipment
Operate the tubular loading system
Use handheld measuring instruments to verify that all parts meet specifications
Ensure quality assurance in accordance with specifications, including gauging threads and instrument standardization
Read and verify part drawings, blueprints, and charts, and plan the best sequence of machining operations
Perform regular preventative equipment maintenance and cleanup as per site policy
Mentor junior employees
Ensure safety procedures and initiatives are executed, expedite and support incident reporting, and facilitate compliance with the site Health and Safety program and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
Maintain service reputation and customer satisfaction through proper and timely job execution, and review and assess asset management in the shop
Perform other duties as required
What You Bring
High school diploma
1 to 3 years in a similar role in an oilfield, commercial, industrial, or construction setting
Excellent mechanical aptitude
Knowledge of API 5CT, 5B, 5B1, 7-1, and 7-2
Ability to manage multiple priorities and multiple stakeholders
Process thinker with a high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently
Strong team player with a positive attitude
Superior attention to detail, with high standards for accuracy and quality of work
Preferred Qualifications
Red Seal Journeyman ticket
WHMIS certification
First Aid certification
Additional technical qualifications relevant to machining and oilfield services
Work Environment
Indoor machine shop environment with exposure to noise, metal chips, and cutting fluids
Standing, lifting, and repeated handling of tools, inserts, and tubulars through the shift
Hearing, eye, and hand protection required around operating equipment
Full PPE at all times: safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility clothing, and CSA approved boots
