Location: Greater Victoria, British Columbia Job Type: Full-time Positions Available: Multiple Pay: $27.00–$36.00 per hour Schedule: Day, evening and weekend shifts About the Position AMDF Cleaning Services Inc. is recruiting experienced Non-Working Janitorial Supervisors for full-time positions in the Greater Victoria area. This is primarily a supervisory position. Successful candidates will oversee cleaning personnel, coordinate schedules, conduct quality-control inspections, provide employee training, and ensure that cleaning, safety, security and reporting requirements are consistently met. Non-Working Supervisors are not normally assigned regular cleaning duties. Their primary responsibilities are supervising personnel, maintaining service quality, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and supporting contract performance. Responsibilities The Non-Working Janitorial Supervisor will: Supervise and coordinate cleaning personnel across assigned facilities; Prepare employee schedules and daily work assignments; Ensure required staffing levels are maintained; Monitor employee attendance, punctuality and time records; Arrange replacement coverage for absences, vacations and emergencies; Conduct and document regular quality-control inspections; Identify and promptly correct cleaning deficiencies; Train and orient new cleaning personnel; Provide ongoing cleaning, equipment and workplace-safety training; Monitor employee performance and provide appropriate coaching; Ensure cleaning tasks meet established performance standards; Track daily, periodic, biannual and annual cleaning requirements; Maintain accurate inspection, scheduling and performance records; Monitor cleaning supplies, equipment and consumable inventories; Ensure employees use appropriate cleaning products, equipment and personal protective equipment; Respond promptly and professionally to client questions and service concerns; Investigate service concerns and implement corrective action; Communicate with AMDF management and authorized client representatives; Report maintenance, safety, security and operational concerns; Ensure compliance with WHMIS, occupational health and safety and site-security requirements; Protect client information, keys, access cards and identification passes; and Complete incident reports and other required documentation. Mandatory Experience Applicants must have a minimum of 24 consecutive months of experience supervising cleaning personnel in an industrial or commercial setting within the last five (5) years. Candidates with five or more years of relevant cleaning supervisory experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Extensive supervisory experience will be considered an asset. Applicants must provide sufficient information for AMDF Cleaning Services Inc. to verify the duration and relevance of their supervisory experience. Résumés should clearly identify: Employer and position held; Employment dates, including month and year; Type and approximate size of facilities supervised; Number of cleaning personnel supervised; Description of supervisory responsibilities; and Professional references who can verify the employment and supervisory experience. Applicants with supervisory experience across multiple employers or contracts should identify each position separately with corresponding dates. Overlapping periods of employment or concurrent contracts will not be counted more than once when determining total qualifying experience. Training and Certifications Applicants should currently hold the following certifications or comparable/equivalent training from a recognized Canadian training provider: WHMIS for Managers and Supervisors – CCOHS (post-2022), or comparable/equivalent training; WHMIS for Workers – CCOHS (post-2022), or comparable/equivalent training; Health and Safety for Managers and Supervisors – CCOHS, or comparable/equivalent training; Asbestos Awareness – St. John Ambulance, or comparable/equivalent training; and Emergency/Basic First Aid (CPR A & AED) – St. John Ambulance, or comparable/equivalent training. Applicants should provide copies of all relevant certificates along with their applications. Certificates should clearly identify the applicant's name, training provider and completion date. Candidates with substantial cleaning-supervision experience who do not currently hold every certification listed above are still encouraged to apply. Equivalent or alternate certifications will be reviewed for applicability, and selected candidates may be required to complete specified training before final placement. Security Requirements Applicants must: Be eligible to obtain and maintain the level of Government of Canada security clearance required for the position. Successfully complete all required background and security screening; Be legally entitled to work in Canada; Comply with all confidentiality and site-security requirements; and Demonstrate discretion when handling client and operational information. Transportation and Availability Applicants must: Be able to work on-site throughout the Greater Victoria area; Have reliable transportation to assigned facilities; Hold a valid driver's licence; Be available for an assigned day, evening or weekend schedule; Be available for occasional statutory-holiday coverage; and Be able to travel between assigned facilities when required. Required Skills and Abilities Successful candidates must demonstrate: Strong leadership and employee-management abilities; Thorough knowledge of commercial and industrial cleaning practices; Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment and floor-care procedures; Knowledge of quality-control inspection procedures; Strong scheduling, planning and organizational abilities; Professional written and verbal communication; Ability to prepare accurate reports and records; Ability to manage employee performance and workplace concerns; Ability to respond calmly and professionally to service concerns; Ability to work independently and make timely operational decisions; Strong attention to detail; Reliability, discretion and professional judgment; Ability to use email, Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems; and Commitment to workplace safety, confidentiality and service quality. Compensation The hourly rate ranges from $27.00 to $36.00 per hour , based on: Length and relevance of supervisory experience; Number of employees previously supervised; Current certifications and training; Security-clearance status; Assigned shift and schedule; and Overall suitability for the position.
