Job DescriptionJob Description
Dick’s Lumber - Edmonton is looking for a safety conscious, customer service driven team player to join the team as a Class 5 Delivery Driver.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Prepare vehicle for finishing product delivery to both private homes and construction sites and verify that all material is securely loaded and wrapped as needed for protection from the elements.
Load shipments in accordance with industry standards, operating procedures and ensure documentation is prepared/checked and notify supervisors of any discrepancies.
Communicate with the Yard in real time via cell phone to receive instructions and provide status updates.
Perform routine vehicle maintenance on 5-ton curtain side truck, including documenting daily inspections and ensuring safety equipment and all maintenance documentation are in place.
Follow safe operating procedures and advise supervisors of potential hazards.
Performs other job-related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Minimum one (1) year of professional driving experience.
Clean Driver’s Abstract.
Ability to lift and carry 50lbs at a time in tight physical spaces, up and down stairs and ramps required.
Good knowledge of city roadways, maintaining awareness of road restrictions and having the ability to source alternative routes.
Moderate manual dexterity is required to drive the truck, manually load and unload material and secure the loads and place the crossers.
Ability to sequence loads in an efficient manner.
Good knowledge of safe working procedures.
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
Fluent in English (spoken and written) with excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
Must have a positive attitude and be a team player, often working with a swamper.
Experience and knowledge in this or a related industry is an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to traffic, dust, dirt and extreme changes in temperature and weather.
Moderate exposure to personal risk; safety boots are required. Fall arrest experience and certification is an asset
