POSITION SUMMARY
The assistant superintendent is responsible for implementing the district's instructional programs, leading curriculum and professional development, and overseeing the operational efficiencies of all staff and services to the students and the community.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and monitor the process for curriculum development in all subjects K-12, which includes scope and sequence, curriculum documents, instructional resources, and professional development for all instructional staff
Participate in the evaluation of certified staff
Evaluate and monitor the instructional programs for special populations (special education, gifted education, English as a second language)
Evaluate and monitor the quality of instruction across all classrooms
Coordinate the district's assessment calendar and required training for all instructional staff
Organize and lead the teacher induction program and mentors
Serve as the district assessment coordinator for all state testing
Implement and monitor a district-wide MTSS process inclusive of the requirements for the READ Act, Math Act and for English language learners
Analyze student achievement data from national, state, and local assessments on a continuous basis
Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
Represent the District on external committees
Collaborate with principals to lead school improvement efforts
Collaborate on grant proposals and applications (community, state, and federal)
Participate in the budget development process
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of research-based practices, trends, and outcomes in instructional leadership
Knowledge of Colorado laws and requirements in education and employment
Knowledge of special education law and practices
Knowledge of, and experience with, diverse populations of learners
Ability to communicate effectively to diverse groups of people
Ability to manage multiple projects in an effective and timely manner
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in education
Five years of experience as a principal or curriculum director
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Physical ability to travel between schools and locations
Physical ability to perform essential job functions, including standing, walking, sitting, and occasional lifting.
