Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Certified Project Engineer (P.Eng.) to lead and deliver complex power distribution projects at a major municipal infrastructure site. This is a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension through 2029.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage the full project lifecycle—from engineering design through commissioning—while working onsite 3–4 days per week in a dynamic, high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end execution of power distribution engineering projects, including design, implementation, commissioning, and project close-out.
Ensure all deliverables meet safety, regulatory, quality, and contractual standards.
Manage project execution in alignment with established processes, governance, and best practices.
Oversee and coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, planning, procurement, order management, and field services.
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and resource allocations.
Facilitate project kickoff meetings (internal and client-facing) and ensure alignment across stakeholders.
Align work orders and field execution activities with overall project goals and timelines.
Identify and manage technical risks, scope changes, and potential change orders.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships.
Provide regular project reporting, updates, and escalations as required.
Deliver technical expertise and advisory support in power distribution, automation, and digital solutions.
Review and validate engineering deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across all project phases.
Support budget tracking, cost control, and financial performance of assigned projects.
Contribute to forecasting, billing milestones, and revenue recognition activities.
Required Qualifications
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (mandatory).
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Snr Level project management experience in electrical grid, utility, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
Strong expertise in power generation, power distribution systems, and electrical engineering principles.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Hands-on experience with switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, and electrical infrastructure.
Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and field teams.
Experience developing and reviewing technical deliverables such as:
Single-line diagrams
System layouts and routing
Distribution and motor control schemes
Grounding and interconnection diagrams
Knowledge in preparing technical specifications and bid evaluations for:
LV/MV switchgear
Transformers and cables
UPS systems
Protection relays
Power management systems
Distribution boards and panel boards
