Job Summary:
The Carpenter works under the direction of the Project Manager to help achieve the project’s expected goals and timelines. This role involves working both in the warehouse and on-site, depending on operational needs and the scope of work being completed. Carpenters are responsible for carrying out work in accordance with the quality standards and workmanship expectations of Downs Construction Ltd.
Responsibilities:
Maintaining professionalism and presenting Downs Construction positively to various stakeholders
Interpreting and creating comprehensive scopes of work
Demonstrating skill in the safe operation of tools and equipment
Following all company policies and standards
Completing all necessary documentation
Coaching, assisting, and delegating tasks to labourers and sub trades
Practicing good housekeeping on the job and in the warehouse
Dealing with a changing work environment daily
Understanding different municipal and provincial building code requirements
Completing jobs in an efficient and timely manner

Compensation
Wage: $30.00 - $39.00 per hour (based on experience)

Requirements:
Certified Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal) or work experience equivalent
Must have a valid BC driver’s license, preferably class 5
Must be able to pass a criminal background check to our approval
Must be detail-oriented
Ability to work well alone as well as in a team environment
Practical knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance is preferred
Practical knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures is preferred
Willing and able to work on-call for after-hours emergency work
Experience in the restoration industry is considered to be an asset
Strong customer service skills
