Additional corporate and VGM information is available at www.equinoxgold.com Equinox VGM is currently inviting applications for a Haul Truck Operator to join our growing team as the company ramps up mine operations and production. Position Summary Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Haul Truck Operator is a team member of the Mine department and is responsible for safely operating rigid frame and articulated dump trucks (ADT) for the purpose of transporting ore, waste, and water (potable delivery and for dust suppression) in an open pit mine setting. This role must ensure work is performed in accordance with health, safety, environmental and legislative requirements. This position is located at the Mine site, working on a 14 days in/14 days out rotation. Accountabilities/Responsibilities Be a courageous health, safety, and environment advocate, adhere to and promote health, safety and environmental standards, policies, and procedures. Operate equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Conducts pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections and completes daily Field Level Hazard Assessments for all activities. Inspect equipment after use to ensure safe handoff to other operators. Operate haul trucks that range in size on a 12-hour shift, including night shift. Transport ore, waste and water (potable delivery and for dust suppression) in an open pit mine setting Perform work and operate outdoors in all weather conditions. Communicate with dispatch, other operators, and supervisors using communication devices such as two-way radio and on-board computers. Operate equipment safely and efficiently to meet production targets. Haul water from water source to worksite as required. Manager and monitor dust compression along work roads to ensure dust control. Mentor, coach, and train apprentices if required. Report any required repairs or concerns to the supervisor. Complete load sheets and other documentation as required. Communicate effectively and professionally with other team members. Actively participate in orientation and training programs. Conduct daily inspections of the work area. Adhere to all company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Education And Experience Required Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Operator (Provincial Blue Seal and/or National Red Seal) Certification is considered a strong asset. High School Diploma or equivalent; or a significant amount of related experience in a similar role is required. Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial setting is required. Experience operating Rigid and Articulated Haul Trucks, specifically the following is a strong asset: CAT 777 CAT 785 CAT 745 Experience working in a remote industrial environment is preferred.Skills And Knowledge Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements at remote sites. Excellent coordination and driving skills. Ability to provide mentorship, coaching and training to an apprentice. Strong knowledge of the OHS, mining, and construction regulations. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety. Experience with radio communication and protocols. Excellent communication (oral/written) skills required. Strong team building skills.
