Responsibilities
Position Summary
: The Facility Technician is responsible for ensuring that all transit service stops are kept in a clean, orderly, well maintained and safe condition.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
The following is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the essential functions of the Service Stop Maintenance Technician position, but rather a general description of some of the requirements necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position. The Facility Technician must be able to perform the following tasks, among others:
Cleans transit service stop floors by sweeping
Gathers and empties trash and recycling
Services, cleans and replenishes transit service stop supplies
Cleans seats and fixtures
Cleans windows, glass partitions using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges and
Mixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
Documents and reports any deficiencies requiring maintenance
Carries out minor repairs as appropriate
Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
Removes snow from sidewalks and areas surrounding transit service stops using snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spreads snow melting chemicals
Notifies managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to transit service stops
Requisitions supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
Maintains a safe work area and a focus on safety to reduce the opportunity for injury to self or other employees
Accurately maintains proper shift documentation reports, and records
Demonstrates a cooperative attitude with fellow employees and supervisors while promoting Company values
Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance including strict adherence to company supplied uniforms, being properly dressed, neatly groomed and with good hygiene according to Company standards
Demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality in compliance with Company policies
Attends all required in-service training, Company required safety meetings and training and other required meetings
All other duties as assigned
Working Conditions:
The Service Stop Maintenance Technician works primarily in the field vehicle and requires the following physical activities: long periods of standing, walking, considerable use of arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of cleaning equipment and materials. The Service Stop Maintenance Technician primarily works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as well as adverse weather, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
A valid G Ontario Driver’s License, or higher
Minimum of 2 Years of driving with an acceptable driving record
Two (2) years’ relevant experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education and job experience (as determined by the Company)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment
Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Knowledge of the transit service area
Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of cleaning chemicals and products
Ability to safety operate a variety of cleaning equipment
Ability to work independently and objectively with little or no supervision
Effective verbal and listening communication skills
Detail oriented
Ability to plan ahead and schedule work

: $23.74/hour + $1.00 shift premium (where applicable).
