The company provides a broad portfolio of products used in water-based fire protection systems, including mechanical pipe-joining systems, fittings, valves, sprinklers, flexible connections, flow-control products and engineered fire protection assemblies. We are seeking a Fire Protection Business Development Representative to expand the company's presence throughout Greater Vancouver and British Columbia. This is a technical, specification-driven business development role focused on building relationships with Fire Protection Engineers, consulting engineers, building owners, developers and senior decision-makers. The successful candidate will engage stakeholders early in the project lifecycle, influence specifications and help position engineered solutions based on technical and commercial value. Responsibilities Business & Market Development Develop relationships with building owners, developers, Fire Protection Engineers, consulting firms and senior industry decision-makers. Identify major commercial, institutional, industrial and infrastructure opportunities throughout the territory. Engage stakeholders during the planning and design stages, well ahead of procurement. Build long-term relationships throughout Vancouver's fire protection and engineering community. Engineering & Specification Development Work closely with Fire Protection Engineers and mechanical consultants to understand project requirements and recommend appropriate solutions. Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations and project-specific meetings. Support specification development, product approvals and design considerations. Provide technical and application guidance throughout the project lifecycle. Become a trusted technical resource within the local engineering community. Technical Solution Selling Develop strong knowledge of fire protection technologies including: Mechanical pipe-joining systems, couplings and fittings Fire protection, control and isolation valves Sprinklers and flexible sprinkler connections Wet, dry, preaction and deluge system components Pressure and flow-control solutions Engineered fire protection assemblies Clearly communicate how these solutions can improve installation productivity, project schedules, safety, reliability, maintenance and lifecycle cost. Strategic Account & Project Development Build relationships with owners, developers, executives, engineering leaders and project managers. Develop technical and commercial business cases demonstrating project value and ROI. Navigate complex sales cycles involving owners, consultants, contractors and distribution. Maintain involvement from initial design and specification through procurement and construction. We are looking for someone who combines technical fire protection knowledge with strong relationship-building and business development skills. Qualifications Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred. Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, products and applications. Experience selling or developing business within fire protection, mechanical construction or a closely related technical market. Existing relationships within the Greater Vancouver fire protection, engineering, owner or construction community are highly desirable. Experience working with consulting engineers and influencing specifications is strongly preferred. Ability to understand technical drawings, specifications and engineering requirements. Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to engage both engineers and senior executives. Proven ability to manage long-term, multi-stakeholder business development cycles.
