DESCRIPTION
Seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst with strong domain expertise in capital markets and investment risk to support a Product Engineering team within a large enterprise technology environment.
This role supports both ongoing application enhancements and a cloud migration initiative, with a strong focus on risk models and investment analytics. The position operates in a collaborative, cross-functional team of business analysts and developers working closely with business stakeholders.
The successful candidate will bring deep experience in investment risk and financial products, along with strong data analysis capabilities. This role is best suited for a Business Analyst who is comfortable working with complex datasets, understands risk calculation methodologies, and can translate business requirements into clear, actionable specifications for technical teams.
The role includes a strong emphasis on validation and testing of risk models and data outputs. While there is no dedicated QA team, the Business Analyst plays a critical role in defining test cases and ensuring the accuracy of results.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and developers to deliver enhancements to in-house applications that support investment risk management and business operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Engage business stakeholders to understand business objectives, investment workflows, and risk-related requirements
Gather, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements and translate them into clear user stories and solution specifications
Lead requirement discussions and produce detailed documentation including meeting notes, process flows, and data mappings
Work closely with developers to ensure requirements are clearly understood and implemented accurately
Support day-to-day delivery and enhancement of investment risk applications
Define and maintain data flows and transformations across systems and risk data repositories
Design and create test cases to validate system functionality and risk model outputs
Perform data validation and ensure accuracy of calculations related to risk metrics
Support User Acceptance Testing activities including defining test strategies, coordinating execution, and validating results
Collaborate with developers to improve automated testing coverage and validation processesContribute to continuous improvement of business analysis practices and team delivery effectiveness
Participate in planning and estimation activities for ongoing initiatives and enhancements
Identify risks, issues, and dependencies and communicate them clearly to stakeholders

REQUIREMENTS
Experience with the following technologies is an asset:
PL/SQL, MS SQL Queries, Snowflake, Python

Experience with
financial instruments valuation
and
risk calculation
, risk management technologies, approaches, and practices, including
Liquidity Risk, Market Risk, Credit Risk, financial modeling, and Monte Carlo simulations
Strong knowledge and experience in risk measurement methodologies, including
VaR, sensitivities, option Greeks, and stress testing
Experience with relative
risk valuation
against a benchmark is an asset
Extensive knowledge of
institutional investment products
, including exchange-traded products,
derivatives
, and/or private and alternative investments
University degree or equivalent experience in Business/Finance, Financial Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering
One or more of the following is an asset:
CFA, FRM
, MBA,
CBAP
, or process improvement methodology accreditation
6+ years’ experience
in one or more of the following roles: Senior Business Analyst, Business Consultant, BSA, Risk Analyst, Product Manager, or Product Owner
Ability to leverage
AI tools
and automation to accelerate analytics and deliverables efficiently and responsibly
Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and complete tasks to meet deadlines
Superb written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment, collaborating effectively with business, delivery, and technology partners
Experience collaborating with product-oriented delivery and technology teams to deliver solutions that address business problems and meet business requirements
Robust understanding of
Agile
practices

This role operates within a small, highly collaborative team with no dedicated QA function
The Business Analyst is expected to play a key role in ensuring solution quality through structured validation and testing
Strong investment risk domain expertise is a critical requirement and a key screening factor
