Key Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and safety inspections on all buses and division vehicles
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic system issues
Complete repairs on engines, drivetrains, brakes, HVAC, fuel systems, and specialized equipment
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and digital records
Provide emergency roadside support and coordinate towing or repair timelines
Track fleet maintenance schedules and ensure vehicles meet regulatory compliance
Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies; order replacements as needed
Communicate repair needs, safety concerns, and vehicle status to supervisors and drivers
Winterize vehicles and support seasonal preparation, including snow removal around shop areas
Test-drive vehicles after repairs to ensure safe operation
Qualifications
Completion of an Automotive Service Technician program or similar technical training
Journeyperson Mechanic status preferred
Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License (minimum)
Class 2 License with S-Endorsement preferred
Ability to perform heavy physical work (100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, 20 lbs constantly)
Ability to work independently and produce journeyperson-quality work
Strong commitment to safe work practices
Working Conditions
8 hours per day
12 months per year
Extensive travel throughout the division and province
Ability to travel northern roads under adverse conditions
Overnight stays in various communities as required
Probationary Period
A one-year probationary period applies to all new appointees.
