Shepherd Village is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Maintenance Worker. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership, integrity and accountability, while working in a team environment that promotes communication, collaboration and respect.
What You Will Work On
Reporting to the Facilities Manager. The successful applicant will be expected to represent Shepherd Village in a courteous and professional manner, while maintaining amicable relationships with peers, subordinates, Residents & families in keeping with the Shepherd Village Mission, Vision & Values.

How You’ll Create Impact
Carrying out all prescribed duties outlined in the preventative maintenance manual,including but not limited to:
Maintaining building systems (electrical, heating/air conditioning, building controls, fire panels, etc.)
Performing repairs and maintenance on plumbing, fixtures, furniture, fittings, and vacant suites
Completing exterior maintenance work, interior finishing work, and indoor pool maintenance.
Liaising with external contractors and technicians, performing regular equipment inspections, testing and cleaning, completing suite and common area painting, and monitoring parking enforcement activities.
Supporting the Manager with additional maintenance and operational duties as assigned.
What Are Your Skills and Experience
MUST be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
2-3 years experience with building operations required.
Building Environmental Systems (BES) certificate, or equivalent trade certificate required
Demonstrated proficiency in various trades, including but not limited to; plumbing, electrical, painting, and finish work
Solid knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation, including but not limited to; Occupational Health & Safety Act, Residential Tenancies Act, and Ontario Fire Code
Swimming pool maintenance experience an asset
Must be self-starter who is mechanically inclined, able to use various equipment
Able to lift move, push & pull heavy loads; constant standing/walking, frequent reaching, crouching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, fine finger manipulation and grasping, ladder climbing and outside roof work.
Good command of English; able to speak, read and write fluently
Cooperative and flexible team player; able to build and maintain positive working relationships
Customer service skills orientated toward the needs and challenges of the mature adult and their families, Shepherd Village staff and other clients
Previous experience in a non-profit and/or healthcare organization is preferred.
