Job DescriptionJob Description
Title:
BIM Manager, Glazing
Location: Greater Toronto Area
Company: Triumph Group of Companies
Role Overview
The BIM Manager, Glazing leads the drafting and detailing function for Triumph's glazing division, starting out as a hands-on individual contributor with the mandate to build the function into a full team over time. You will produce and review shop drawings, fabrication packages, and BIM models for curtain wall, storefront, and glazing projects, using VDC (virtual design and construction) and BIM tools to catch clashes and coordination issues before they hit the field. You report to the Contracts Manager and work closely with estimating, project managers, and the shop floor to keep drawings accurate and on schedule. Early on, that means doing the drafting work yourself and setting the standards, templates, and workflows the division will run on as it grows. Once the team starts to build out, you will hire, train, and manage the drafters who join you. The people who do well in this role are comfortable working solo today while thinking two steps ahead about the department they are building. The ideal candidate has previously built or scaled a Revit/BIM drafting workflow at another company — not just worked within one someone else built.
What We Offer
Salary: $110,000 to $140,000 (commensurate with experience)
Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision
Three weeks vacation to start
A ground floor opportunity to build and lead a new division as it grows
Direct line to the Contracts Manager and senior operations leadership
Exposure across multiple divisions (roofing, cladding, waterproofing, energy, restoration) at a diversified company
Room to shape the tools, templates, and hiring plan for the glazing drafting function
What You Bring to the Table
Technical Skills
Hands-on proficiency in VDC (virtual design and construction) modeling and BIM software such as Revit, with working knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor — ideally at an advanced/expert level (family creation, parametric curtain wall/storefront families, sheet and template standards), not just day-to-day modeling
Proven track record of developing, standardizing, and scaling Revit/BIM drafting workflows, templates, and family libraries at a previous company
Experience training or mentoring other drafters on Revit/BIM standards and enforcing modeling consistency across a team
Familiarity with model coordination/collaboration platforms (e.g., Autodesk BIM 360/ACC, Navisworks) for clash detection across disciplines
Exposure to AI-assisted and agentic drafting/BIM workflows beyond basic AI drafting suggestions — e.g., using tools like Claude or custom agents/scripts to automate tasks in Revit via the Revit API, Dynamo, or pyRevit
5 to 8 years of experience in glazing, curtain wall, or fenestration drafting, including stick and unitized systems and extrusion design
Ability to produce and review shop drawings, fabrication packages, and coordination models to a level that can go straight to the shop floor
Understanding of building facade interfaces, waterproofing details, and how glazing systems tie into the broader building envelope
Experience reading architectural and structural drawings and translating them into accurate, buildable glazing details
Attributes
You are comfortable being the only person in the seat today, and motivated by the chance to build a department around yourself
You've stood up Revit/BIM standards or workflows before, and you know firsthand what works and what to avoid the second time around
You're curious about how AI agents and automation can extend BIM workflows, not just speed up individual drawings
You take ownership of your drawings and catch your own mistakes before they become field problems
You communicate directly with estimating, project managers, and the shop, so nothing gets lost in translation
You think ahead about process and documentation, not just the drawing in front of you
You are patient enough to build something properly and driven enough to want it to grow
Duties & Responsibilities
Produce and review shop drawings, fabrication packages, and BIM/VDC models for glazing and curtain wall projects
Coordinate with estimating and project managers to confirm scope, schedule, and drawing requirements before work begins
Run clash detection and coordination checks against architectural and structural models to catch issues before fabrication
Set drafting standards, templates, and file structures that the glazing division will use as it grows, including Revit templates, family libraries, and modeling standards specifically
Review shop drawings and models for accuracy, buildability, and code compliance before release to the shop floor
Work with the shop and site teams to resolve field issues and update drawings as conditions change
Track drawing status and deadlines across active projects, flagging risks to the Contracts Manager early
Support the transition between stick built and unitized systems and extrusion design where projects call for it
Build the hiring plan, job descriptions, and onboarding process for future glazing drafters
Recruit, train, and manage drafting staff once the division reaches the point of adding headcount
