St. Albert Public Schools is currently seeking
a BASC Humanities Teacher
to join the team at
Hillgrove School
for the 2026-2027 school year.
Our Behaviour and Academic Strategies Classroom (BASC) is designed to support students with severe emotional/behavioural diagnoses, who have had interventions and supports put into place in the regular classroom setting yet continue to need a significant level of support each day. BASC has a low student-to-staff ratio, provides a safe environment including individual positive support plans, modified and/or adapted curriculum individualized for the student, and targeted teaching in the area of social/emotional skills and self-regulation.
FTE: 1.0 FTE; Full Time Probationary
Responsibilities:
Teaching BASC Humanities (Social/Language Arts)
Qualifications and Attributes:
A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
Excellent interpersonal skills and works well as a team player
Commitment to a positive school culture & building community
Experience working in inclusive education programming and with multidisciplinary teams to support student learning and engagement
Experience developing Individual Program Plans and providing student accommodations
Experience differentiating curriculum as well as an understanding of scaffolding curriculum outcomes for complex learners
Comprehensive understanding of augmentative communication strategies and assistive technology
