About the role
Reporting to the Vice President, Profitability & Risk, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the pricing of our Individual Life Term & Health product portfolio. Sun Life provides a diverse and leading suite of insurance solutions across multiple distribution systems. This key role leads a team of pricing and actuarial experts working with financial, product and distribution leaders across the organization.
What will you do?
Lead the Health & Term product pricing teams, providing direction and highlighting priorities for the team to align with the broader business objectives and strategic goals.
Support the design or enhancement of innovative and competitive solutions by analyzing the financial and pricing impact of product features and benefits.
Ensure compliance with the Product Design and Pricing Operating Guideline & VNB Operating Guideline.
Review profitability of products, and influence the use of various financial levers to optimize profitability and assist management in making decisions.
Partner with key business partners to ensure product suite has appropriate positioning and support for advisors and clients
Actively develop and maintain robust risk management processes as first line of defense actuarial leader
What do you need to succeed?
FSA or FCIA designation with 10+ years of actuarial experience
Strong people/team management skills with passion for engagement and development
Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation skills) with the ability to explain complex ideas to executives and non-actuaries
Strong relationship management and partnering skills with a variety of stakeholders
Ability to produce business outcomes on multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
Knowledge of insurance, pricing, product development, IFRS 17, Valuation or ALM is an asset'
As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position includes managing both French and English-speaking staff (Quebec and outside Quebec) and providing daily support to the team.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
