Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Associate Lawyer role based in Saskatoon, SK. The Associate Lawyer will manage a caseload involving family law matters such as separation and divorce, and other legal matters. Daily responsibilities include meeting with clients, gathering and analysing information and documentation, drafting agreements, contracts, wills, and other legal instruments, and providing clear, compassionate legal advice and settlement advocacy. The role involves negotiating settlements, participating in collaborative law processes and mediation, and working with other professionals to resolve disputes outside of court whenever possible. The Associate Lawyer will also be responsible for file management, legal research, maintaining detailed records, and contributing to firm initiatives that support client service and practice development.
Qualifications
Licensed lawyer in good standing (or eligible for admission) with the Law Society of Saskatchewan, with demonstrated experience or strong interest in family law, wills and estates, and real estate.
Knowledge of settlement-focused practice, including collaborative law, mediation, or other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes, with a commitment to client-centered and non-adversarial approaches.
Strong legal drafting and analysis skills for agreements, wills, estate documents, and real estate transactions, with close attention to detail and risk management.
Excellent client service, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen actively, explain complex legal concepts in plain language, and support clients experiencing conflict or stress.
Solid legal research and file management skills, including organization, time management, and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines efficiently.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team environment, showing professionalism, discretion, and respect for diverse clients and colleagues.
Familiarity with law office technology and practice management software; proficiency with standard office applications and secure digital communication tools.
Training or interest in mediation, collaborative law, or conflict resolution (coursework, certifications, or equivalent practical experience) is an asset.
Experience in a settlement-focused or family law practice setting is preferred, but candidates with transferable skills and a strong commitment to
