As the Associate Director you will lead the process and decision-support design needed to convert structured information into better capital, lifecycle, and portfolio decisions, including front-end process, stage-gate logic, TCO, and the application of P4A and AssetIO approaches.
Job Description
Define and structure the front-end investment lifecycle, guiding projects from concept through feasibility to final investment decision
Develop and implement stage-gate frameworks, including clear approval logic, governance criteria, and decision authority levels
Oversee Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and whole-life cost modelling, ensuring CAPEX and OPEX considerations are fully integrated into early-stage decisions
Lead the integration of value, objectives, risk, and asset criticality into decision-making frameworks to support balanced, data-driven outcomes
Establish standardized methodologies and tools for evaluating investment options, including financial, technical, and operational trade-offs
Define and embed the implementation basis for P4A and AssetIO, ensuring alignment between project delivery, asset data structures, and long-term operational performance
Collaborate with engineering, finance, and operations teams to ensure consistency between design intent, cost modelling, and asset strategies
Ensure all front-end deliverables are decision-focused, practical, and aligned with real investment outcomes rather than purely analytical outputs
Provide clear, defensible recommendations supported by traceable assumptions, risk analysis, and value assessments
Drive continuous improvement of investment governance, decision frameworks, and lifecycle integration practices
Qualifications
10+ years of relevant experience in capital planning, asset management decision support, lifecycle economics, portfolio planning, or related consulting environments
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering, finance, economics, or a related discipline from a recognized university
Strong expertise in asset decision-making, lifecycle planning, business case development, and investment prioritization frameworks
Proven experience applying Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), whole-life cost modelling, and value-based decision frameworks
Demonstrated ability to integrate risk, uncertainty, and asset criticality into investment analysis and decision support
Advanced capability in structuring and presenting executive-level insights and recommendations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable decisions
Experience working across multidisciplinary teams (engineering, finance, operations) to align investment strategies
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement with senior leadership
Track record of delivering practical, outcome-focused solutions that support real capital investment decisions
