POSITION SUMMARY: This position involves maintaining the CVHS greenhouse and greenhouse yard directly supervised by AgriScience Instructor / Greenhouse Manager. Maximum of 10 hours per week. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure safety procedures are followed and personal protective equipment is utilized Maintain active growing environment in both greenhouses Learning and operating Environmental Controller Systems Water plants as needed Fix irrigation lines as needed Plant and maintain growth of plant crop Calculate and apply Fertilizer Organize greenhouse storage facilities Maintain area surrounding greenhouses Weed eat, mow, weed outside area of greenhouse Clip and trellis plants Prune plants as needed Pick up approved parts and equipment from stores Harvest, package and sell produce and plants Identify pests/diseases and perform Integrated Pest Management Track growth of plants and analyze growth patterns Create order lists for materials, plants, seeds, supplies Maintain calendar of scheduled growth and application practices Maintain greenhouse structure and facilities QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: Must be 16 years or older. Must be able to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card OSHA-10 Agriculture Continuously follows safety procedures & utilizes personal protective equipment. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Good communication skills; listening, following directions, and speaking Ability to lift 25 lbs. is required. Physical capabilities to conduct continuous manual labor. Physical capabilities to operate greenhouse machinery and small motor equipment machinery. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Completed or enrolled in 3rd year of AgriScience program at CVHS Knowledge and related experience of horticulture and greenhouse systems desired Experience following safety procedures.
