Summary of Position: Incumbent oversees and advises on all aspects of the department's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and departmental standards. This position serves as the primary contact on EMS operations, quality improvement, budgeting, staffing, equipment management, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include developing and implementing EMS policies and procedures, overseeing patient care documentation and continuous quality improvement initiatives, managing controlled substance and infection control programs, coordinating training and certification requirements, maintaining medical equipment and supplies, and serving as a liaison with hospitals, medical directors, regulatory agencies, and legal representatives. This individual will also participate in activities including firefighting, emergency response, hazardous materials response, and technical rescue as needed.
