Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Electrician – Commercial New Construction (Contract) Job Description This contract role offers an experienced commercial construction electrician the opportunity to work on a new-build community center project in Vancouver. You will install and run electrical systems in a commercial environment, including cable pulls, conduit work, and rough-ins, while collaborating closely with other trades on site. The position starts as a contract with the potential to extend based on project needs and performance. Responsibilities Install, run, and secure electrical cables throughout a new commercial construction site. Perform wall rough-ins, including setting electrical boxes, routing wiring, and preparing for final device installation. Pull and guide fish tape through conduits to facilitate cable installation in walls, ceilings, and other building structures. Install, bend, and work with electrical conduit according to project specifications and applicable codes. Interpret and work from electrical blueprints, drawings, and specifications to complete installations accurately and efficiently. Coordinate daily tasks with site supervisors and other sub trades to maintain a smooth workflow and meet project milestones. Follow site safety procedures and use required safety equipment at all times, including adherence to WHMIS guidelines. Communicate effectively with team members to clarify instructions, resolve issues, and ensure quality workmanship. Maintain a clean and organized work area, handling tools, materials, and equipment responsibly. Support overtime and additional hours when required to meet project schedules and deadlines. Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial new construction electrical work. Proven ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and construction drawings. Registered as a 3rd year electrical apprentice or higher. Hands-on experience with cable installation, wall rough-ins, and conduit work in commercial environments. Current WHMIS certification. Strong communication skills to work effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other trades. Ability to work safely and efficiently on an active construction site. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on large commercial or institutional projects such as community centers or similar facilities. Familiarity with coordinating tasks alongside multiple sub trades on busy construction sites. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality electrical installations. The site is accessible by transit, but parking in the area is limited, so planning your commute in advance is important. You will work with typical commercial electrical tools and equipment, including conduit, fish tape, and cable-pulling gear, while adhering to all safety protocols and site requirements.
