Salvi Group is looking for an Apprentice Cabinetmaker to join our team this summer!
Position Type
This is a
temporary, full-time
position for up to a
16-week term
between May and August.
There is the opportunity for a successful summer employee to be considered and offered a permanent, full-time position.
Candidate Eligibility
This is a Canada Summer Job grant funded position, so eligible candidate must:
be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of their summer job
be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
for the duration of the job as listed here, and
be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
The successful candidate must be available to work
a minimum of 35 hours per week
and complete at least
6 consecutive weeks

Summary
Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Apprentice Cabinetmaker is responsible for, but not limited to, performing basic cabinet carpentry and general duties on the shop floor. The successful candidate will take direction well and be able to perform physically demanding work.
Job Duties
Surface preparation and sanding materials between coats
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
Cabinet production and assembly
Packaging of finished products
Load and unload CNC
Load and delivery of product from shop to site
Receive and pick up of materials as necessary
Operate and maintain tools and equipment
Keep a daily log of tasks
Work with team in the shop to complete projects within established timeframes
Ensure job-site safety is maintained
Comply with company policies, procedures and safety requirements
Maintain open and clear communication with the Shop Manager to establish goals, timelines, and expectations
Helps maintain cleanliness and safety of the property
Helps with cabinet installations on site
Contribute and participate in the effective use of the Quality Control System
Understand andcomply withall Policies and Procedures
Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
Requirements
High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
Current and cleared Criminal Record Check and pre-employment drug testing arerequired
Valid Class 5 license with a clean drivers abstract is required
Entering or completing a Cabinetry Apprenticeship
Cabinet making experience is an asset
Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools
Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job
Effective verbal and listening communications skills
Time management and good organizational skills
Ability to work with others in a team environment
Ability to problem solve and deal with complex detailed projects
Considered Assets:
First Aid and CPR
Forklift experience
Work Conditions
A minimum of 35 hours per week: Monday to Thursday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm and Fridays 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Hours of work are subject to seasonal changes and variations caused by workload or other circumstances, overtime as required
Ability to performance manual labour, lift and carry objects up to 100lbs
Use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust
Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry heavy objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
May be frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles
May be exposed to intermittent loud noise
Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
Excellent stamina is required
Hazards associated with the construction industry
