About Cogency Inc.
Cogency Inc. is a Toronto-based consulting and technology solutions provider delivering high-quality IT and business consulting services to enterprise clients across banking, financial services, healthcare, and telecommunications. We partner with organizations to solve complex process and technology challenges — and we’re growing our Appian practice.
The Role
We are looking for a seasoned Appian Solutions Architect to lead and grow our Appian practice in Canada. This is a rare hybrid role that sits at the intersection of pre‑sales, solution architecture, and delivery leadership. You will own the full lifecycle — from identifying opportunities and leading client proposals, to architecting enterprise‑grade Appian platforms and guiding delivery teams to successful outcomes.
If you are an Appian expert who can walk into a boardroom, win client confidence, design a winning solution, and then lead a team to build it — this role was written for you.
What You’ll DoBusiness Development & Pre‑Sales
Identify, qualify, and pursue new Appian opportunities across target industries including financial services, insurance, healthcare, and public sector
Lead and respond to RFPs, RFIs, and client proposals — owning the solution narrative, scope definition, effort estimation, and commercials
Present and demonstrate Appian capabilities to executive and technical stakeholders, translating complex platform features into compelling business outcomes
Build and maintain relationships with Appian’s vendor team and partner ecosystem to generate referral pipeline
Develop reusable proposal assets, case studies, and solution accelerators that strengthen Cogency’s Appian go‑to‑market position
Solution Architecture & Design
Own end‑to‑end Appian solution architecture for enterprise client engagements — process design, data architecture, integration patterns, and governance frameworks
Define technical standards, design patterns, and best practices across Cogency’s Appian delivery practice
Lead discovery workshops with client stakeholders to map business processes, identify automation opportunities, and define solution scope
Design integrations between Appian and enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, core banking, document management) using REST, SOAP, and Appian’s integration objects
Architect security models, record types, data fabric layers, and AI‑skill configurations aligned to enterprise requirements
Evaluate and advise on Appian Cloud vs. on‑premise deployment models, upgrade strategies, and platform governance
Delivery Leadership
Lead and mentor a team of Appian developers and analysts across project engagements; set technical direction and enforce quality standards
Own delivery risk identification and mitigation; serve as the senior technical escalation point across active Appian projects
Conduct design and code reviews; ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned to Appian best practices
Collaborate with project managers and client stakeholders on scope management, milestone tracking, and change control
What You Bring
8+ years of experience with the Appian platform, including at least 3 years in a solution architect or technical lead capacity
Appian Certified Lead Developer (required); Appian Certified Senior Developer or Appian Certified Architect designation strongly preferred
Proven experience leading client‑facing proposals, RFP responses, and pre‑sales engagements — including effort estimation and commercial scoping
Deep knowledge of Appian architecture: records, process models, integrations, portals, data fabric, AI skills, and RPA capabilities
Strong experience integrating Appian with enterprise systems via REST APIs, SOAP web services, and database connectors
Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary delivery teams and manage stakeholder relationships at senior levels
Excellent communication and presentation skills — you can command a room with both executives and technical teams
Experience in at least one of: financial services, insurance, healthcare, or government/public sector
Familiarity with BPM methodology, process mining, and intelligent automation frameworks
Nice to Have
Experience growing or building a BPM/Appian practice within a consulting or staffing firm
Exposure to complementary platforms (Pega, Camunda, ServiceNow) and the ability to position Appian competitively
Knowledge of Canadian regulatory and compliance environments (OSFI, PIPEDA, provincial privacy legislation)
Existing client relationships or network in the Toronto enterprise technology market
What We Offer
Competitive base compensation + performance incentive tied to practice growth
Direct visibility and influence over Cogency’s Appian practice strategy
Prospect to build something — this is a growth role with a clear path to Practice Lead
A collaborative, entrepreneurial culture that rewards initiative and ownership
