Job Title: Aluminum Fabricator
Job Description
The Fabricator is responsible for creating and constructing patterns and guides as templates for metal cutting, assembling, fitting, and welding metal sections and plates, and installing fabricated components in the final products. The Fabricator will be required to use a variety of light and heavy machinery to make their necessary cuts and to assemble the fabricated components into complete units.
Responsibilities
Create and construct patterns and guides as templates for metal cutting.
Operate light machinery, including brake presses, shears, cutting torches, and grinders.
Layout reference points and patterns on heavy metals according to the templates/blueprints.
Assemble, fit, and weld metal sections and plates to create complete units or subunits.
Install fabricated components in the final product.
Preheat workpieces to render them malleable.
Monitor the quality of fabrication and production.
Set up and operate heavy machine tools, such as radial drill, end mill, and edge planer.
Monitor materials usage and report on any material issues.
Maintain a working knowledge of changes in fabricating compliance, practices, and techniques.
Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations, and participate in identifying hazards.
Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols, and established metrics.
Analyze blueprints and engineering drawings to assess materials needed, and plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal.
Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
Effectively and efficiently prioritize daily work.
Accurately complete work orders and time cards.
May be asked to cross-train on other/all functions at the facility.
Other assigned work as required.
Essential Skills
5+ years of fabrication experience with Red Seal certification.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints or fabrication drawings.
Experience working outside in all weather conditions.
Skills in steel, flux core, and stick welding.
Familiarity with CWB certification and mild steel fitting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Forklift experience.
Knowledge of confined space procedures.
Experience in class production.
Marine experience.

Work Environment
Work both indoors in confined spaces and outdoors, including tasks that may be performed 25 feet high. Utilize a wire feed welding machine. The dress code includes steel-toed safety boots, welding helmet, and safety glasses/goggles, which are provided. Candidates should have their own basic tools like a chipping hammer. Located on Mitchell Island, the shift time is from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with potential overtime and travel to off-site locations.
