Job Purpose The Accounting Team Lead (1C) is responsible for managing and supervising day-to-day accounting operations in Kazakhstan, with a primary focus on 1C accounting system management, accounting entries, reconciliation, month-end closing, and financial reporting support. The Accounting Team Lead works closely with the Chief Accountant, Finance, Treasury, Tax, Operations, Procurement, HR, and other relevant functions to ensure smooth accounting operations and timely resolution of accounting issues. 2. Key Responsibilities A. Accounting Operations & 1C Management Lead and supervise daily accounting operations and ensure all transactions are accurately and timely recorded in 1C . Review accounting entries, supporting documents, and accounting treatments before posting or finalization. Ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting data across relevant accounting cycles, including (coordinator) AP, AR, payments, expenses, fixed assets, revenue, driver-related transactions, and other operational transactions . Monitor the accounting workflow in 1C and coordinate with relevant teams to resolve posting errors, data discrepancies, and system-related issues. Maintain and review accounting master data, chart of accounts, accounting mappings, and transaction classifications in accordance with approved accounting policies. Ensure proper documentation and audit trail for accounting transactions. Support the implementation and optimization of new business models, accounting flows, and system configurations in 1C. B. Month-End Closing & Financial Reporting Lead and coordinate the monthly accounting closing process in accordance with the agreed closing schedule. Prepare and review month-end closing workpapers, journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and supporting schedules. Perform and review reconciliations between 1C, bank accounts, operational systems, payment platforms, and other relevant sub-ledgers/data sources . Review trial balance and investigate significant variances or unusual movements. Prepare accounting reports, schedules, and analysis for management and HO Finance/Accounting teams. Support preparation and review of monthly financial statements and other management reporting. Ensure accounting data and supporting documentation are complete and ready for internal and external audits. C. AP, AR & Operational Accounting Supervise and review accounts payable and accounts receivable accounting activities. Review supplier invoices, payment requests, reimbursements, and operational expenses for proper accounting treatment and supporting documentation. Monitor AP/AR balances, aging, outstanding items, and reconciliation status. Review revenue-related accounting entries and reconciliation between operational data, payment gateways, bank transactions, and 1C. Support reconciliation of driver-related transactions, deposits, deductions, refunds, incentives, and other operational balances where applicable. Coordinate with Treasury, Operations, Procurement, and other stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and outstanding balances. D. Fixed Asset & Inventory Accounting Supervise fixed asset accounting activities, including capitalization, depreciation, transfer, disposal, and reconciliation. Review fixed asset registers and ensure consistency between physical assets and accounting records. Coordinate periodic asset verification and stock-taking activities with relevant departments. Review accounting treatment for asset-related transactions and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards. Support inventory and spare-part accounting activities where applicable. E. Tax, Compliance & Internal Controls Ensure accounting activities comply with Kazakhstan accounting standards, tax regulations, internal policies, and approved accounting procedures . Work closely with the Chief Accountant and Tax team to ensure accounting data supports timely and accurate tax reporting. Monitor compliance with approval workflows, segregation of duties, and supporting-document requirements. Identify accounting control gaps and recommend corrective actions. Support internal and external audits by preparing accounting records, reconciliations, explanations, and supporting documents. Monitor changes in local accounting and tax requirements and escalate potential impacts to the Chief Accountant. F. SOP, Process Improvement & Automation Implement, review, and monitor accounting SOPs and internal procedures. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reduce manual work, and strengthen data accuracy. Participate in 1C process enhancement, automation, and system integration initiatives . Develop and improve accounting templates, reconciliation files, and reporting tools. Coordinate with IT, Data, Finance, and business teams to resolve system and data issues affecting accounting operations. Support the design and implementation of accounting processes for new products, services, and business models. G. Team Leadership & Development Supervise Accounting Specialists and coordinate daily task allocation and priorities. Review team members' work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting procedures. Provide coaching, guidance, and technical support to team members. Monitor team workload, deadlines, and closing deliverables. Support onboarding and knowledge transfer for new accounting team members. Provide performance feedback and identify training and development needs. Escalate material accounting issues, risks, or resource constraints to the Chief Accountant in a timely manner. H. Stakeholder & HO Coordination Act as a key accounting contact for day-to-day coordination with Finance, Treasury, Tax, Operations, Procurement, HR, Legal, IT, Data, and other functions. Coordinate with HO Accounting/Finance teams on reporting requirements, accounting policies, and process implementation. Prepare and submit regular and ad-hoc accounting reports requested by HO and management. Follow up on accounting issues and ensure timely resolution with relevant stakeholders. Support management and HO teams with accounting analysis and explanations when required. 3. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field . Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience , preferably in a fast-paced operational, platform, logistics, retail, FMCG, or multinational environment. Strong hands-on experience with 1C accounting system is required. Solid understanding of accounting principles, month-end closing, journal entries, reconciliation, AP/AR, and financial reporting. Practical knowledge of Kazakhstan accounting and tax requirements . Experience in preparing and reviewing accounting workpapers, trial balance, financial statements, and management reports. Experience in supervising or coordinating accounting team members is preferred. Experience with high-volume transaction environments and multiple data sources is an advantage. Strong Excel/data analysis skills and experience with ERP or accounting systems. Experience in accounting process improvement, automation, or system implementation is an advantage. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict closing deadlines. Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
