Head of Consumer Company Overview Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) is a Toronto-based fintech company providing high-quality financial data, corporate fundamentals, and market intelligence to investment professionals, developers, and retail investors worldwide. Our platform delivers institutional-grade financial data through flexible APIs, comprehensive datasets, and intuitive digital products. We help individuals and businesses make more informed investment decisions by making professional financial information accessible, reliable, and affordable. As we continue to expand globally, we are investing in the growth of our consumer business, with a focus on scaling subscriptions, increasing recurring revenue, strengthening customer retention, and delivering greater value to self-directed investors. We are seeking a commercially driven, data-oriented Head of Consumer to lead this next phase of growth and build a scalable, profitable global B2C business. Role Overview The Head of Consumer will own the strategy, commercial performance, and execution of FMP’s global consumer business, with direct accountability for B2C revenue growth, subscription sales, customer acquisition, conversion, retention, and monetization. This leader will develop and execute the strategy for turning FMP’s financial data and analytics into compelling consumer products and recurring revenue streams for retail investors, self-directed traders, and the broader investing community. The role spans consumer sales, growth marketing, subscription strategy, product-led growth, partnerships, and commercial analytics. You will identify new revenue opportunities, optimize the customer lifecycle, and build the systems and team needed to scale the business internationally. Initially, this will be a hands-on, player–coach role. You will personally lead key growth initiatives, analyze performance, develop commercial partnerships, and work closely with the founders and Product team while building a high-performing consumer organization. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of growing B2C subscription businesses, preferably within fintech, financial data, investment platforms, or other data-driven digital products. You understand how to acquire customers efficiently, convert free users into paying subscribers, reduce churn, and turn customer and product data into sustainable revenue growth. Key Responsibilities 1. Consumer Revenue & Commercial Strategy Own global B2C revenue performance, including subscription sales, recurring revenue, in-product monetization, and consumer partnerships. Develop and execute the commercial strategy to grow FMP’s retail investor and self-directed trader business. Establish revenue targets, growth plans, forecasting processes, and performance metrics. Identify new revenue streams, market opportunities, customer segments, and monetization models. Develop subscription pricing, packaging, product tiers, upselling, and cross-selling strategies. Improve average revenue per user (ARPU), customer lifetime value (LTV), and overall consumer business profitability. Build a repeatable and scalable consumer revenue engine that supports long-term global growth. 2. B2C Sales & Subscription Growth Lead the strategy for acquiring, converting, and monetizing individual consumers across FMP’s digital platforms. Develop strategies to convert free users into paying subscribers and increase paid subscription adoption. Optimize the entire customer journey, from initial awareness and registration through purchase, renewal, and expansion. Identify opportunities to improve checkout conversion, subscription activation, pricing effectiveness, and purchase intent. Develop customer segmentation and targeted commercial strategies based on user behavior, needs, and willingness to pay. Establish measurable sales and conversion targets and continuously optimize performance against them. Explore new direct-to-consumer sales channels, distribution models, and partnerships that accelerate subscription growth. 3. Growth Marketing & Customer Acquisition Lead full-funnel consumer growth across paid acquisition, SEO, content marketing, email, lifecycle marketing, social media, and community-driven channels. Develop and manage customer acquisition strategies that balance growth, conversion, and acquisition costs. Establish and optimize key performance indicators, including customer acquisition cost (CAC), conversion rates, retention, ARPU, and LTV. Design and execute experimentation programs across marketing campaigns, landing pages, onboarding, pricing, and product experiences. Build scalable acquisition channels and improve the efficiency and return on marketing investment. Partner with Product to develop product-led growth strategies, referral opportunities, and engagement loops. Strengthen FMP’s positioning and value proposition for retail investors seeking accessible, professional-grade financial data and analytics. 4. Subscription Retention & Customer Lifecycle Own consumer retention strategy, with accountability for reducing subscription churn and increasing long-term customer value. Develop lifecycle marketing and engagement programs that improve activation, product adoption, subscription renewals, and retention. Analyze customer behavior, product usage, and subscription trends to identify churn risks and opportunities to improve engagement. Develop strategies to reactivate inactive users, recover cancelled subscriptions, and win back former customers. Work with Product to improve the consumer experience, demonstrate ongoing product value, and encourage habitual usage. Establish retention benchmarks and monitor subscription performance across customer segments, acquisition channels, and geographic markets. Build a sustainable subscription model focused on recurring revenue, customer satisfaction, and long-term profitability. 5. Product Monetization & Consumer Insights Partner closely with Product and Engineering to identify monetization opportunities across FMP’s financial data, analytics, and consumer-facing products. Translate customer feedback, product usage, and market insights into product and commercial priorities. Identify opportunities to improve product packaging, feature differentiation, premium offerings, and paid conversion. Evaluate freemium models, premium features, subscription tiers, and other monetization approaches. Ensure consumer growth initiatives align with product capabilities, customer needs, and FMP’s broader business strategy. Represent the commercial voice of the consumer in product roadmap discussions, using data and customer insights to inform decisions. 6. Partnerships & Distribution Develop strategic partnerships with fintech companies, brokerage platforms, investing communities, financial educators, creators, and other relevant distribution partners. Identify partnership opportunities that expand FMP’s reach, drive customer acquisition, and generate incremental revenue. Develop commercial agreements, referral programs, affiliate strategies, and platform integrations that support consumer growth. Build relationships within the retail investing ecosystem to strengthen brand awareness and customer acquisition. Evaluate partnership performance based on measurable business outcomes, including revenue contribution, conversion, acquisition costs, and customer value. 7. Data, Analytics & Performance Management Establish a data-driven operating model for consumer growth, commercial performance, and subscription optimization. Build and monitor dashboards covering revenue, recurring subscriptions, acquisition, conversion, engagement, retention, churn, and customer lifetime value. Lead cohort analysis, customer segmentation, funnel analysis, attribution, and growth experimentation. Develop reliable performance reporting and forecasting processes to support strategic and operational decisions. Identify performance gaps, growth opportunities, and commercial risks through quantitative analysis. Partner with Data, Product, and Engineering teams to improve tracking, attribution, analytics infrastructure, and visibility into consumer behavior. Use insights to prioritize investments and allocate resources toward the highest-impact growth opportunities. 8. Team Building & Organizational Leadership Build and lead a high-performing consumer organization spanning growth, marketing, sales, partnerships, and customer lifecycle management. Establish clear goals, responsibilities, performance metrics, and accountability across the team. Initially operate as a hands-on leader while developing the processes, systems, and talent required to scale. Recruit, develop, and retain strong commercial and growth talent as the business expands. Foster a culture of ownership, experimentation, analytical rigor, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with the founders and senior leadership on consumer strategy, revenue planning, resource allocation, and international expansion. 9. Global Market Expansion Define target consumer segments, ideal customer profiles, geographic priorities, and market entry strategies. Evaluate international opportunities for FMP’s consumer products and subscription offerings. Adapt acquisition, pricing, positioning, and retention strategies to different customer segments and markets. Monitor competitors, emerging consumer fintech trends, and developments in financial data and investment analytics. Represent FMP within the retail investing ecosystem through industry events, strategic relationships, and relevant media opportunities.
