The Role
The Automotive Service Technician inspects, diagnoses, maintains, and repairs customer and dealership vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and dealership procedures.
This is a unionized position at Sault Nissan represented by IAMAW Automotive Lodge 2332 and governed by the applicable Collective Agreement.
What You’ll Do
Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair automotive systems
Perform scheduled maintenance and manufacturer-recommended services
Use diagnostic equipment and technical resources to identify vehicle concerns
Complete authorized customer-pay, internal, warranty, and promotional work using the applicable flat-rate times
Document inspection findings, diagnostic results, repairs, parts requirements, and recommendations
Communicate additional repair or maintenance requirements to the Service Advisor
Perform road tests and final inspections, where appropriate
Maintain expected productivity, quality, and safety standards
Complete required Nissan Canada University training and technical examinations
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Work collaboratively with Service, Parts, technicians, and apprentices
Complete required warranty documentation
Perform other reasonable duties as assigned
What You Bring
Valid Ontario Automotive Service Technician 310S Certificate of Qualification
Ability to perform maintenance and repairs with minimal supervision
Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills
Previous dealership or automotive repair experience
Nissan or other manufacturer training is considered an asset
Valid driver’s licence
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position
Ability to provide and maintain the tools customarily required for the trade
Willingness to complete required Nissan Canada University training and examinations
Compensation and Working Conditions
Current Journeyman Technician rate: $37.35 per flat-rate hour
A 38-hour weekly guarantee, subject to the terms of the Collective Agreement.
A standard 40-hour work week consisting of five shifts scheduled Monday through Saturday, generally from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour unpaid lunch, subject to the Collective Agreement
Time worked beyond 40 hours per week paid at time and one-half
Sunday work paid at double time
Work on a designated holiday paid at double time and one-half, in addition to regular holiday pay
