Position Overview
SPS West is seeking a full-time
Welder/Fitter
to support in-house fabrication of industrial equipment and assemblies. This role is hands-on and production-focused, requiring strong
TIG and MIG welding skills
across
carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
. Journeyman certification is not required; demonstrated skill, reliability, and pride in workmanship are non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities
Perform
TIG and MIG welding
on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components
Fit, tack, and weld parts based on
drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions
Fabricate small to medium-sized assemblies, frames, enclosures, and custom components
Maintain weld quality to internal standards (appearance, penetration, consistency)
Work collaboratively with shop leads, engineers, and other trades
Assist with general fabrication tasks as required (cutting, grinding, drilling, assembly)
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow shop safety procedures and quality expectations
Required Skills & Experience
Strong
TIG and MIG welding experience
(shop or industrial environment)
Proven ability to weld:
Carbon steel
Stainless steel
Aluminum
Ability to
read basic fabrication drawings
and measurements
Comfortable fitting parts before welding
Solid understanding of weld preparation, joint types, and distortion control
Reliable, punctual, and accountable
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
Experience with light structural fabrication or enclosures
Experience working with thin-gauge materials
Forklift or shop equipment experience
Pressure welding experience (not required)
