Job Summary
Perform humane capture and harvesting of fur-bearing and game species in accordance with applicable regulations. Conduct field operations including tracking, trapping, harvesting, and site maintenance in remote outdoor environments.

Main Duties
Set, monitor and service traps, snares and other capture devices; check traplines regularly and handle captured animals humanely.
Track and locate target species using signs, calls and scenting techniques to maintain effective traplines and hunting areas.
Maintain, repair and prepare trapping and hunting equipment, blinds, shelters and field tools for safe field use.
Process, skin, grade and prepare pelts or harvests for transport, storage or sale following established handling procedures.
Maintain detailed records of catches, locations, effort and observations to ensure regulatory compliance and efficient operations.
Conduct wildlife observations, monitor population indicators and report unusual health or environmental concerns to appropriate authorities.
Requirements
Previous experience in trapping, hunting, wildlife fieldwork or related outdoor occupations.
Working knowledge of applicable wildlife laws, conservation regulations and humane wildlife handling practices.
Ability to work independently in remote and variable outdoor conditions for extended periods.
Physical fitness and stamina to lift equipment, carry loads and travel across uneven terrain.
Competence in the use and routine maintenance of field equipment such as traps, knives and off-road vehicles or boats where applicable.
Strong commitment to safety, including safe handling of traps and firearms and adherence to emergency response procedures.
Required Skills
Wildlife tracking, species identification and understanding of animal behaviour.
Safe firearms and trap handling practices.
Field navigation using maps, compass and GPS devices.
Equipment maintenance and basic repair skills.
Accurate record-keeping and reporting.
Problem solving and decision-making in remote, changing conditions.
