The Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the company. This role works closely with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Customer Service to maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure production requirements are met. The Buyer leverages extensive experience to negotiate favorable pricing and terms, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.

Requirements
Responsibilities:
Lead RFQs/RFPs, supplier selection processes, and contract negotiations to achieve the best value across cost, quality, and service.
Establish and manage long-term agreements and strategic supplier partnerships.
Drive cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives through negotiation, supplier optimization, value engineering, and continuous improvement activities.
Analyze Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to support cost-effective purchasing decisions.
Monitor and manage supplier performance through scorecards, relationship development, and periodic business reviews.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks through alternate sourcing, supplier diversification, and inventory planning strategies.
Optimize inventory levels and management processes to balance product availability and working capital efficiency.
Resolve supplier-related issues involving quality, cost, and delivery, including non-conformance management, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and claims resolution.
Source and procure materials, products, and services required to support operational and production requirements.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and procurement data within ERP/MRP systems.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Production, Engineering, Inventory Control, Quality, and Operations, to support business objectives and ensure supply continuity.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement processes, supplier performance, and inventory management.
Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Minimum 3–7 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
Strong understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) principles and cost analysis.
Knowledge of supply chain risk management and inventory optimization practices.
Completed or currently pursuing the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation is considered an asset.
Familiarity with logistics coordination, transportation planning, freight processes, and Incoterms is considered an asset.
Exposure to import/export processes, customs requirements, international trade compliance, and working with customs brokers is considered an asset.
Proficient computer skills and experience using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, structured problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines.
Strong customer service focus and relationship-building abilities.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor.
Demonstrates a positive attitude, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement
Benefits
Salary Range: $65,000 - $72,000 annually
