We are a family hog farm based in Bright, Ontario, seeking a professional truck driver to manage local loads around Southwestern Ontario. The role involves transporting hogs and various commodities such as corn, beans, soybean meal, wheat shorts, bakery waste, and DDGS. The ideal candidate will have livestock handling experience, a strong mechanical aptitude, and maintain an organized, clean truck while ensuring animal welfare and safety compliance throughout their routes.
Responsibilities
Drive livestock transport and mixed commodity trailers over 100-250 km daily routes in Southwestern Ontario
Handle loading and unloading of livestock with care and basic animal welfare knowledge
Transport commodities including corn, beans, soybean meal, wheat shorts, bakery products, and DDGS
Conduct vehicle cleaning and maintenance, spotting mechanical issues promptly
Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules
Adhere to all safety regulations and compliance requirements
Complete necessary documentation related to loads and deliveries
Occasionally work overtime or weekends as needed specifically around harvest season.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of commercial truck driving experience
Valid AZ driver’s license
Livestock handling skills and familiarity with animal welfare
Mechanical aptitude with basic truck maintenance knowledge
Route planning and time management capabilities
Strong safety compliance awareness
Good communication skills
Clean driving record
