Web Architect – Member Experience (Digital Insurance / Group Benefits Platform)
Location: Toronto, ON
Work Style: Hybrid (Tue-Thurs 8:30 PM – 5:00 PM EST)

The Web Architect will lead the architecture| design| and evolution of the Member Experience (MX) portal for the Group Benefits business. This role is accountable for ensuring a secure| scalable| highly available| and intuitive digital experience for plan members| enabling services such as benefits enrollment| claims| coverage visibility| wellness journeys| and self-service interactions across web and mobile channels. The position requires strong expertise in modern web architectures| API-first and headless design| identity and security| and integration with core insurance platforms| while balancing regulatory| privacy| and accessibility requirements typical of the Group Benefits domain.
Role Descriptions:
Architecture Technical Leadership:
Define and own the end to end web architecture for the Member Experience portal| including frontend frameworks| backend services| APIs| and integration patterns.
Establish reference architectures| design standards| and guardrails for web and mobile channels aligned with enterprise IT and security policies.
Drive adoption of modern UIUX architectures (SPA| micro frontend| headless CMS) to support scalable and rapid feature delivery.
Ensure non functional requirements such as performance| resiliency| scalability| security| and observability are embedded into solution designs.
Member Experience Domain Alignment:
Design digital experiences that support key Group Benefits journeys such as:
*Member onboarding and registration
*Benefits coverage visibility
*Claims submission and tracking
*Provider search and wellness engagement Partner with Product Owners| UX designers| and business stakeholders to translate member needs and regulatory requirements into pragmatic technical solutions.
Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g.| WCAG) and inclusive design principles.
Integration Platform Enablement:
Architect integrations between the Member portal and:
*Core Group Benefits administration systems *Claims processing platforms *Identity Access Management (IAM) solutions *CRM| document management| and payment gateways Promote API led and event driven architectures to decouple the portal from backend systems and support future extensibility.
Guide the use of cloud native services and CICD pipelines to enable automated| secure| and reliable deployments.
Security| Privacy Compliance:
Ensure the portal architecture aligns with enterprise security standards| including authentication| authorization| RBAC| and data encryption.
Design for compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements relevant to Group Benefits (e.g.| Personally Identifiable Information| PHI).
Collaborate with security and risk teams to conduct architecture reviews| threat modeling| and remediation planning.
Governance Delivery Oversight:
Act as the architecture authority for web related initiatives within the Group Benefits Member Experience domain.
Review and approve solution designs from delivery teams and vendors for architectural alignment and quality.
Support Agile delivery teams by providing just in time architectural guidance while avoiding over engineering.
Mentor developers and engineers on architectural patterns| best practices| and emerging web technologies
