Population and Public Health (PPH) dietitians are registered professionals who work collaboratively with community, municipal, and provincial partners to improve the health and well-being of Albertans through evidence-based nutrition strategies. Their role involves engaging stakeholders, influencing policies and practices, and embedding healthy eating strategies into various systems and environments. PPH dietitians collect and analyze nutrition-related data, evaluate program effectiveness, and apply research, local context, and lived experiences to guide decision-making. They also provide consultation, education, and resources to professionals and the public, helping to create supportive food environments and address issues such as health inequities and household food insecurity, ultimately promoting healthier populations across Alberta.
