Onyx Fire Protection Inc. is a leading fire protection contractor delivering service, retrofit, and large-scale construction projects across Ontario. We specialize in sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, and life-safety solutions for commercial, industrial, institutional, and mission-critical facilities.
We are seeking an entry-level Project Purchaser Coordinator to support our operations and project teams. This role plays a key part in coordinating project activities while assisting with purchasing materials required for fire alarm and life safety projects.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to develop a career in project coordination, construction operations, and procurement within the fire protection industry
Responsibilities
Support Project Managers with day-to-day coordination of active projects
Assist in tracking project timelines, deliverables, and milestones
Prepare and maintain project documentation, including purchase orders, change orders, and internal tracking logs
Coordinate with internal departments (sales, operations, technicians) to ensure smooth project execution
Communicate with vendors and internal teams regarding project requirements and timelines
Attend internal project meetings and assist with meeting notes and follow-ups
Assist with purchasing materials, equipment, and supplies required for assigned projects
Create and process purchase orders in accordance with company procedures
Track material delivery schedules and follow up with vendors to ensure on-time delivery
Support inventory coordination and material allocation for job sites
Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
Work closely with Project Managers to align purchases with project budgets and scopes
Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ERP experience an asset
Willingness to learn construction and fire protection project processes
Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving
