School District No. 20 (Kootenay-Columbia) Teaching Vacancy 2026-2027 Posting Date: May 15, 2026 Competition # 26-C-19 0.10 FTE Student Support Teacher Webster Elementary School Continuing: September 1, 2026 Qualifications: BC Certification Bachelor of Education with a focus on Inclusive Education or equivalent training that includes coursework in the following areas: students with disabilities or diverse abilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder assessment/testing theory and practice strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students principles of UDL and their application in the classroom Previous teaching experience in Inclusive Education at the elementary level Expertise in a wide range of teaching and behavioural management strategies including skill development in social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication and social skills Knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of disabilities and diverse abilities Knowledge and understanding of child and youth mental health issues Ability to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of norm-referenced assessment instruments to Level B Ability to develop, implement and evaluate an IEP in consultation with classroom teacher(s), parents, students, staff and district and community resource personnel Formal training and experience administering Woodcock Johnson III Achievement Test battery Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Sharepoint, Teams, Onenote) Working knowledge of assistive software (Google Read and Write, Orbit Note, Equatio) Working knowledge and ability to facilitate the use of the school's Sensory Lab. Direct, supervise and support the work of Educational Assistants/Child Care Workers An understanding of inclusion and how to support the school community in supporting an inclusive mindset Ability to support, model, co-teach and collaborate around best practice to support an inclusive classroom Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills For further information, please contact Shelly McKay, Principal, at smckay@sd20.bc.ca.
