**Job Title: Welder** **Job Description** This role involves performing high-quality MIG and flux core welding and metal fabrication on a major construction project. You will cut, weld, and graft metal components according to precise measurements, complete inspection reports, take clear photos of work, and proactively solve problems on site. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions and drawings, and comfort using an iPad to navigate documentation and reporting. **Responsibilities** + Perform MIG and flux core welding on a variety of metal components to meet project specifications and quality standards. + Cut, weld, and graft metal parts according to measurements, drawings, and blueprints. + Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently, including welders, saws, presses, and punching equipment. + Read and interpret blueprints and construction documentation to understand project requirements. + Follow precise measurements to ensure accurate fabrication and installation of components. + Complete inspection reports and document work performed, including taking photos of completed and in-progress tasks. + Maintain a clean and tidy work area, ensuring tools and equipment are organized and in good working order. + Identify issues on site and apply effective problem-solving to address welding and fabrication challenges. + Work collaboratively with other trades and team members in a construction environment. + Adhere to all site safety procedures and regulations, including proper use of PPE and compliance with WHMIS requirements. + Travel between different project sites as required, including locations such as Aldergrove, Vancouver, and Surrey. **Essential Skills** + Minimum 4+ years of welding experience, including MIG and flux core welding. + At least 1+ year of experience working in a construction environment. + Proficiency with MIG welders and related power tools such as saws, presses, and punching equipment. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow detailed measurements. + Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, accurate welds and fabrications. + Ability to use hand tools commonly used in welding and construction. + Comfort using an iPad or similar device to navigate documents, reports, and site information. + Effective problem-solving skills in a fast-paced construction setting. + Valid WHMIS certification. + Ability to provide and use basic personal tools and protective equipment, including welding helmet, apron, clear safety glasses, gloves, 6" steel-toe footwear, hard hat with lanyard, and high-visibility clothing. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Auto body experience is an asset. + Familiarity with construction trades such as carpentry is beneficial. + Experience working with blueprints in a construction or fabrication environment. + Demonstrated reliability and ability to stay with a project for an extended duration. + Willingness to move between multiple sites as project needs change. **Why Work Here?** You will contribute to a landmark healthcare construction project with long-term stability and the potential to stay on the same site for over two years. The environment is a busy construction site where you will work with welding equipment, hand tools, and various power tools while following strict safety protocols and wearing appropriate PPE, including welding helmet, apron, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe footwear, hard hat with lanyard, and high-visibility clothing. The site is located near a SkyTrain station with no on-site parking, so transit access is convenient.
