Job Description

**Job Title: General Production Worker - Timber Fabrication** **Job Description** This role focuses on fabricating all components of advanced timber structures in a busy wood production facility. You will help produce mass timber products such as glue-laminated beams, laminated veneer lumber, nail-laminated and dowel-laminated timber, along with steel connectors, cables, castings, and integrated structural panels that include pre-installed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. You will work primarily indoors using a variety of hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble, sand, finish, and package timber products to precise specifications. **Responsibilities** + Measure, mark, cut, and assemble timber elements according to detailed specifications and shop standards. + Read and follow shop drawings, cut lists, and production schedules to ensure accurate and timely production. + Use saws to cut wood and plywood sheets to size with precision and attention to safety. + Sand panels and components to required finish levels using sanders and related equipment. + Clean and coat panels as directed to prepare them for shipment or installation. + Package glue-laminated beams and panels securely for transport and storage. + Assist with panel fabrication by inserting screws and dowels according to instructions. + Use a nail gun to attach plywood panels and other wood components safely and efficiently. + Operate power and air tools such as hand drills, skill saws, chop saws, and sanders in daily production tasks. + Work with plywood sheets and other wood products to build structural and architectural components. + Perform limited yard work (approximately 10% or less of the time), including gathering materials and packaging products. + Support general shop clean-up to maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work area. + Operate wood production machines as required, following training and safety procedures. + Handle heavy lifting as needed for moving materials, panels, and components. + Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly to coordinate workflow and meet production targets. **Essential Skills** + Practical experience using hand and power tools, including drills, skill saws, hammers, nail guns, sanders, and measuring tapes. + Ability to read and understand shop drawings, cut lists, and production schedules. + Strong verbal and reading communication skills to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. + Comfort working with wood, plywood sheets, and structural timber products in a production setting. + Capability to perform sanding, packing, and basic fabrication tasks with attention to detail. + Experience with wood framing, rough carpentry, or similar hands-on construction or production work. + Competence in saw operation, including cutting wood to size safely and accurately. + Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks throughout the shift. + Reliability, punctuality, and a consistent desire to be present and engaged at work. + Steel toe work boots suitable for a wood production and fabrication environment. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Construction experience in a shop or field environment. + Experience with mass timber, timber framing, or structural wood products. + background in sawmill operations or wood planing/wood planing machine use. + Familiarity with wood coating, finishing, or related production processes. + Willingness to learn new skills and cross-train on different machines and tasks. + Positive attitude and strong team orientation in a fast-paced setting. + Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in previous roles. + Interest in building a long-term career in timber manufacturing or carpentry. + Comfort traveling occasionally to assist with installations when opportunities arise. **Why Work Here?** You will join an elite, globally recognized timber manufacturer known for delivering complex and high-profile projects. The shop operates with a fast-paced, "go-go-go" culture where everyone stays active and engaged, and effective communication is essential. You will work on an open production floor with bay doors open and proper ventilation in place, using tools such as tape measures, hammers, speed squares, nail pullers, utility knives, and pencils, along with power tools including drills, nail guns, saws, and sanders. Less than 10% of the work takes place in the yard, typically gathering materials or packaging products. The facility employs around 50 people and offers extensive cross-training opportunities on machines and, over time, on on-site installation work. A hard hat and safety vest are required when specified, and steel toe work boots are mandatory.
