Key job responsibilities - Define, design, and implement multi-tier distributed software applications. - Estimate support effort, plan implementation of quality features, and rollout system changes that meet requirements for functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to development goals and principles. - Must be able to effectively collaborate in a fast paced environment with multiple teams in a large organization (software development, QA, Project/Release Management, Build and Release, etc). - Provide on-call production support for payment platform applications A day in the life You will design, build, and improve backend services for Amazon's payment methods platform. Working with engineers and product partners, you'll write code, review designs, and evolve plugin-based workflows that enable consistent payment experiences across Amazon businesses. You'll participate in design and code reviews, refine system architecture with senior engineer guidance, and join operational rotations to monitor service health and resolve production issues. Your work will support services managing hundreds of payment methods and millions of daily customer interactions, enabling Amazon to launch new payment capabilities. Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
