Preference will be given to qualified regular part-time employees within the Part Time Support Staff bargaining unit at Sheridan College. Should a suitable candidate not be found, external candidates will be considered.
Under the direction of Manager, Library User Services, the Regular Part-time Library Technician works with other Library staff to support students as they learn at Sheridan and create a sense of belonging, connection, and engagement. The incumbent does this through performing a variety of library tasks such as performing all circulation functions, using automated library systems, assisting library users in the operation of the public library catalogue and performing basic printer troubleshooting. The position provides virtual and physical quick reference, research support, citation support, and library use guidance, and participates in keeping the collection in order through physical repairs, shelf reading, and shelving as required. This role supports promotion of the library at events, promotes services to students, and contributes to the creation of accessible digital content and other digital outreach materials on library topics as assigned.
