West Kelowna’s Parks Department is looking to fill a term position as a Parks Operator I – Urban Forestry to perform forest fuel management work.
Summarized Position Responsibilities:
The Parks Operator I – Urban Forestry position supports the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the City of West Kelowna’s parks, urban forest, and related infrastructure. This role involves using a variety of hand and power tools to perform tree and vegetation maintenance, including pruning, planting, removal, raking, and forest fuel modification work in accordance with prescribed reports and instructions. The position assists with general landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks, operates and services equipment and tools, and supports Urban Forestry Operators with tree and shrub care, including climbing, remedial work, and removals. Work is completed across multiple locations throughout the City, such as parks, facility grounds, urban forests, and street tree programs. The role requires safe handling and storage of materials, adherence to Occupational Health and Safety regulations, and active participation in risk management and public safety practices.
