SUMMARY:
The Transitional Housing Outreach Worker’s primary responsibility is to support urban Indigenous individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of insecure housing, by providing responsive participant-based and one-to-one services. The Worker will support individuals in identifying, accessing and navigating adult service systems relevant to their housing needs. This position will use a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach and will collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to coordinate services and support in consultation with individuals and partnering programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary education in Social Services or Child & Youth Services, or combination of the equivalent education and/or a minimum of two years of work experience with young adults.
Minimum 2 years of experience, preferably in residential, housing, outreach or shelter setting.
Knowledge of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on family violence, child welfare, impacts of trauma, Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach; knowledge of an Indigenous language(s) will be considered an asset.
