KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for the right person to join and lead our amazing team of dispatchers in our Public Safety Department. We need a professional, detail oriented and highly motivated individual to assume the challenging and rewarding role of Emergency Dispatch Supervisor for a one-year term.
Reporting to the Manager of Emergency Preparedness, the incumbent is a working supervisor who provides supervision to the Emergency Dispatchers and assists the public by providing emergency and non-emergency dispatching services for the Fire Division, the Municipal Enforcement Division, and the Public Works Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The incumbent is required to have a minimum of 4 years' of experience emergency dispatching in a comparable public safety communication centre, along with a minimum of 2 years' of supervisory experience is required (preferably in a dispatching environment.)
The Emergency Dispatch Supervisor will also be required to have, or be able to attain, the below listed specific vocational qualifications:
Grade 12 Diploma
Communications Centre Supervisor
Emergency Medical Dispatching (EMD)
Emergency Fire Dispatching (EFD)
Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
WSCC Supervisor Safety Course
Standard First Aid/CPR-C
To perform the work, it is also necessary that the incumbent has the aptitude to take emergency calls and solicit appropriate information from callers in a professional and sensitive manner and has the aptitude to operate both FDM CAD and SCADA computerized systems. Experience with the Priority Dispatch System is an asset.
SALARY:
The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $106,177, along with a comprehensive benefits package including a monthly housing and vacation travel allowance, totalling $450 per month.
